How Do You Fix Linux Static Compilation Issues (Fedora)?
How Do You Fix Linux Static Compilation Issues (Fedora)?
You may have to build the library dependencies from source so that it produces a static library that you can link to.I believe Fedora is one of the Linux distributions that does not require development packages to include static libraries, because they require dynamic linking for Fedora packages. Static libraries are optional.I might be wo not about that, but it is what I remember. 1. Moving away from Scientific LinuxIf you are comfortable with Scientific Linux, the closest would be CentOS. Fedora is quite a few steps ahead in software versions, that could be a problem adjusting. You can try dnf list --installed to get a list of installed packages. You would need to edit out exact versions and keep architectures to be able to take the list to install equivalent packages later.I have had to reinstall busted Fedora installations. I saved configuration (essentially /etc), installed over the system (being careful not to format /home), installed the saved list of packages, and restored accounts and such form saved /etc. At least that is how I remember it, it was quite a time back. And it did not involve different distributions2. How did trench coat and fedora become associated with film detectives?I could only speculate. But I think that may be because the height of detective films was in the late 40s and early 50s when this kind of dress was common American city-dweller clothing - it's just how people dressed when lots of these films were being made.I guess the hat and trench also has it's practical uses. It's easy to obscure your face and inner clothes with it, conceal or carry equipment like cameras or firearms in the big jacket and so on. How did trench coat and fedora become associated with film detectives?3. How do I install OpenGL on Fedora Linux?in all three major desktop platforms (Linux, macOS, and Windows), OpenGL more or less comes with the system. However, you will need to ensure that you have downloaded and installed a recent driver for your graphics hardware4. Fedora 23 - can't re-login after logoutSpeaking of Fedora 25.Well the workaround that I use is simple. Use a second virtual terminal. When I see that I cannot log back in I simply use ctrl alt f2, then login at the command prompt and then type startx. This bring me back to the graphical desktop, but using a second virtual terminal, it seems that for now the first terminal is inaccessible after logging out. The only thing to fix it is a restart5. Fedora 11 or Ubuntu 9.04?If your computer has the graphics power to run compiz fusion then that's the eye candy taken care of. (check it on You Tube) Fedora is not really the best for new users. The documentation simply is not there for when problems crop up. I would suggest Mandriva or Debian before Fedora but Ubuntu (9.10 is out next month but you can upgrade then) and Linux Mint are better for new users with Ubuntu just outdoing Mint on account of its popularity. All allow you to install compiz fusion. Gnome is better than KDE. KDE does look slightly better 'out-of-the-box' but that is easily remedied and KDE costs you more processing power. It has to be said that a few (very few) KDE applications are better than the gnome counterpart but most can be run in gnome anyway and gnome has everything you need. The one thing KDE does better is the browser/file manager that also allows you to view/preview various content such as pdfs etc. None of the things you can do with Konqueror is the best way to do any of them but it can do all of them! I like the split window in the file manager for dragging and dropping files but I just open 2 file managers and there are other split window file managers available but they are not the default nor would I make them so (but you could) If you have any problems email me. google ubuntu-restricted-extras which will tell you how to install flash player, java jre and lots of codecs in one go. Do not use adobe's website when directed to it as it is a mess about. In ubuntu:- Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal type:- sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras (unless you get kubuntu or xubuntu when you replace those words for the word 'ubuntu' ie add a k or x) You can install any software this way if you know its correct name. miro inkscape abiword scribus gnome-do are good packages you can google or read about in synaptic (system - admin - synaptic) which is where you can find all listed software and read descriptions. Do not install anything unless you understand what it is.
How Do I Add Bliss OS in GRUB2 Boot Menu in Fedora 32? I Am Very New to Fedora and Have Never Used a
If you have installed Bliss OS after fedora, then there should have a bootloader installed by Bliss OS, which will contain both Fedora and Bliss OS booting option(or others, if any).To change it, go to BIOS, move the Bliss OS (Android) boot loader to the top and restart it.Hot Key for BIOS varies from the manufacturers. It's esc for hp, del for dell. How do I add Bliss OS in GRUB2 boot menu in Fedora 32? I am very new to Fedora and have never used a Linux OS1. What is the package and background process for network time in Fedora 26?chrony is the default NTP client, offering better time synchronization on systems not always connected to the internet or on systems with unstable clocks. It should be installed by default, and is found in the chrony package. You can still use the ntpd daemon from the ntp package if desired. There are a few cases where you might want to do this (see the documentation link below). The chrony daemon (chronyd) can be controlled at the command-line with chronyc. For example, the available time sources configured can be seen with chronyc sources, much like you would use ntpq -pn with the classic NTP client. The chrony Red Hat documentation provides a nice overview of chrony for Red Hat, CentOS and Fedora (of course). A successive chapter in the same document describes the classic ntp setup. To use ntp you must disable chrony2. How do I get emacs on a newly installed Fedora 20 system? It is just that emacs is not in the base set of packages. In the end, POSIX mandates vi(1), not emacs, as the default system editor4. what outfit goes good with a fedora hat?white fedora white pants red flats black vest striped shirt. thats the first thing that popped in my head.5. Is OpenSUSE really competitive with Fedora and Ubuntu for English speaking users or does it have reliability and security issues?Wow... I somehow feel like this question was just for me. I have used all three distributions that are mentioned in this question. I started my Linux cold turkey experience with Ubuntu, for about two years pre the unity interface, and when the unity interface came along I moved to Fedora. Then after three long years in an abusive relationship, I moved to OpenSUSE 12(I think that was the version number then), then eventually OpenSUSE Leap.So to answer your question, though I doubt it matters what language you speak, I think it is very competitive .In fact I would take OpenSUSE over Fedora on any day. As for Ubuntu and OpenSUSE I think in some way they are on par, they are similar in many aspects, and where they differ they only edge each other out slightly. Is OpenSUSE really competitive with Fedora and Ubuntu for English speaking users or does it have reliability and security issues?
Deleted Fedora From Disk but still Exists in Boot Loader. also Have a Kali Installed Properly in UEF
If you have windows installed along with that, then delete the Linux partition from Disk Management. Then make a windows bootable usb. Boot into windows and open CMD.then typebootrec.exe/fixmbrNow restart the computer and unplug the usb. grub will be removed. Your problem is solved now1. Would you consider me a free-loader just because I take all the plastic forks/spoons etc. that will fit in?i did not know that i called u that, sorry if i did :)2. EFI GPT Windows 7 boot-loader/manager issue and grubtry grabbing a GPARTED liveCD and setting your windows partition to have the 'boot' flag. this will probably supersede your GRUB installation but at least you will have a point to work from3. we have front loader washing machine and it smell like mildew what causes that smell and how do i get rid of i?Clean the filters and door seals, and leave the door open after doing a wash. Check your machine's manual for further details of things like where the filters are located4. /boot/grub/grub.cfg has two different Linux versions and lost windows loaderThe update-grub script should be picking up the Windows boot loader, since it is present, as shown here:Note the presence of /EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi, which is the Windows boot loader. My initial hypothesis is that a bug in the update-grub script is causing it to omit the Windows boot loader for some unknown reason. Two workarounds spring to mind....Option #1Open the /etc/grub.d/40_custom file in a text editor and add the following lines to it:Note that these lines are customized to your specific system and may need to be adjusted should somebody else need to implement this fix. The (hd0,gpt2) specification, in particular, identifies where the Windows boot loader files live. Also, there are many variants on this boot entry that may be tried. Doing a Web search on custom boot entries in GRUB may be informative. With this file edited, type sudo update-grub and check grub.cfg or reboot to see the effect. With any luck, a GRUB 2 entry for Windows will be added and will work. If the entry does not work, then any error messages GRUB emits when you try the entry may be informative. Option #2This workaround is predicated on the assumption that the Windows Fast Startup and/or Hibernate features is causing subtle filesystem damage that's causing update-grub to fail. Thus, the goal is to disable these Windows features. To do so, though, you must first boot to Windows. In the process of making the attempt, you will also test another boot manager that might work better than GRUB, even if filesystem damage is not the cause of the problem. To try this approach:If rEFInd does not show an option to boot Windows in step #4, or if that option does not work, then the problem is deeper than it appears from your Boot Info Script output. My guess if that's the case is that the Windows boot loader file has become damaged. If you happen to have a backup, restoring the file from the backup may fix the problem. If not, you should ask on a Windows forum about recovery5. Problems with Maytag MVWB300WQ1 top loader? In my area there is a man on Carigs List that is very good with fixing washers and dryers for cheap. Look in your area's CL for washer repair6. Anyone know anything about the LG WTH950 Top Loader?Based on your link, it looks like you are in Australia. I do not live there, so can not give recommendations for an Aussie washing machine. :-) I do recommend one feature in particular, since you are going to be washing cloth diapers (American word for nappies): Buy a washer which has an internal heater, so your wash water will be plenty hot enough to clean them well. If you have not washed cloth diapers before, I recommend this process: Have a soak pail to soak diapers in until you wash them. The info I will post here is based on a 5-gallon (20-liter) size pail: Put 1 cup borax and 1/2 cup liquid chlorine bleach in the pail. Fill it up with HOT water, and be sure the borax dissolves well. When you take a wet diaper off the baby, put it in the pail. When you take a soiled diaper off the baby, flush the solid waste down the toilet before you put it in the pail. When the pail is full, or you are almost out of diapers and need to wash them, dump the contents of the pail -- diapers and soak water together -- into the washing machine. Use the spin cycle alone to drain and spin the soak water out. Wash the diapers in HOT water and good, mild detergent. Put white vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser. It will strip all detergent out of the diapers so they will not irritate the baby's skin. Vinegar also kills bacteria. If you can dry them outdoors, that will be a great advantage, as sunlight also kills bacteria. Hope this helps!
